How much does it cost?
That depends on the piece you select. We have items ranging from $9.00 on up. The price you see is what you
pay (plus tax, of course). Studio Fee is included in the price of the pottery.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes! You can use Discover, American Express, Visa & Mastercard to pay in addition to cash, personal check
and or travelers checks, plus money under your mattress!
What does the Pottery price include?
Fees includes all of your paints and the use of studio materials such as brushes, stencils, tracing paper,
carbon paper, etc. It also includes the final glazing and firing of your piece. And For Mosaics, the price
includes the piece, tile, glue, use of tools, & grout that you can do at home the next day, if you want us to
grout it for you its a $9 charge per piece.
Why does it take up to a week to get my piece back?
Painting your piece is only the beginning of the process. Once you finish your work, the underglaze needs 24
hours to properly dry. After this, we apply a special glaze, which also needs 24 hours to properly set. We then
load the kiln by setting your pieces on specially designed stilts. Once loaded, the kiln is fired to a temperature
of 1850°. It takes on average 8-10 hours for the Kiln to reach that temperature, then up to 20 hours to cool to
the point where we can handle your items. We then unload the kiln and sand any stilt marks left on the
bottom. If any quality issues come up during our inspection of your final piece, we will re-glaze and run it
through the cycle again.
Is there any lead in the paints or glazes?
We use only lead-free glazes and underglazes.
Can we bring our own food and beverages?
You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages to enjoy while you are painting.
Do I need to make reservations?
Walk-ins are always welcome with no appointment necessary. However, we do recommend reservations for
groups over 6 people so we can make sure to pull some tables together for you.
But I'm not artistic. Can I still make something nice?
Everyone's an artist at the mad potter. We have lots of samples, idea books, stencils, traceable patterns,
stamps, sponges and a helpful, friendly staff to help you unleash your creative potential!
What happens if I can't finish my piece in one sitting?
You are welcome to leave your piece on our unfinished rack and come back another time to finish return
studio fee is $3.00 per piece . All we ask is that you finish your piece within 30 days. If you don't think you
can come back within 30 days, feel free to take your piece home with you and bring it back to finish at your
convenience.
What exactly is bisque?
Bisque is molded clay that has been fired once and is ready for painting.
How long does it take to paint?
It depends on you and the piece you select. The average piece takes about an hour to paint. Larger, more
detailed pieces will, of course, take longer to paint.
How long does it take to Mosaic?
Once again this depends on you and the piece you are working on, the average piece takes about 1 hour.
Can small children Mosaic?
We recommend children 9 years and up, we do have plastic pieces for the younger ones.
I want to paint a plate. Can I eat off of it?
Once glazed and fired, all of our pieces are food safe, dishwasher safe and microwave safe. But remember
you cannot put the finished pieces in the oven. Unless you purchase one of the stoneware pieces.
Can I reserve the studio for a group after hours?
Certainly! We require a minimum of 10 painters for after-hours events. Just give us a call to check for

Will the paint stain my clothes?
All of our paints are water-soluble and therefore completely washable.
May I bring "adult beverages?"
You are welcome to bring your own "adult beverages" to adult-only group events and on Date & Diva Night
we will provide the glass.

In most cases, yes. If you don't see what you want on our shelves, we will attempt to find it for you. If the
piece is unusual or costly, we may require payment before we order the piece.
